A truce can be very useful, but don't be afraid to break one. You'll be saving up a bit of money for research and backup units. Throughout the middle of the game, you will be maxing out each tier of units, then creating a building for spawning the next.
You want to spend the first 10 minutes dumping as much cash as you make into power plants. Immediately create a nuclear plant in your base and move your light units to the power crystals nearby. Map out what areas you will put what buildings, figure out where your units will go, and decide who to ally with. This is the part where you should be envisioning your strategy. When the game begins, you should scramble to take a look at the map and the other players around you. Take the fastest possible route to a full winning army, which I'll teach you how to do now. It's as much of a race as it is a battle. The idea is to execute your strategy quickly and to always be patient.
